College and Career

As a senior in high school, I am in the process of choosing my future for and after college. Last month I received emails from the CUNY schools I had applied to and they accepted me. These schools are: City Tech, Medgar Evers, York and Kingsborough Community College. I am extremely excited that my dream school, City College of Technology accepted me however, I plan on attending school in the spring of 2018. With this planned attendance date, I would skip the first semester and defer the present acceptance to City Tech. The plan for school attendance can give me the time to prepare for the school year.

I have high functioning Autism which is classified as Asperger's Syndrome. There is difficulty in interacting with other people outside my immediate family; someone and I might sometimes have an argument about topics I tried to understand. This has me thinking that I might fail in relationships so I mostly spend time alone and interact less. I am interested in voting after my 18th birthday, going through stages of development and occasionally emotions just like any other person would; just differently.

The field I want to work in Computer Science is Information Technology and programming; the reason is that I want to work with the internet and applications however, there is more. I read on bls.gov, software development is development of applications that people can use to complete certain tasks on a computer or other devices and it requires expert programming skills; also there is the creation of systems that control networks and run the devices themselves. All of this comes from communication with the user and consumer to analyze and understand what they really need.

In April, I am going to take the CUNY Assessment Test to determine if I need remedial classes or eligibility to take college level courses. I am currently taking prep classes during the Senior Stay-cation when the senior class has the building all to themselves :)
